Australian Shepherds, also known as Aussies, are incredibly smart, loyal, playful, and energetic. They make great companions, competitors, and family protectors. The breed was perfected in the American West, where they were bred to herd cattle, sheep, and other animals. Because of their heritage, they've been known to try to herd family members to keep them together.
Aussies have an estimated life span of 12-15 years. Because they were originally bred to be herding dogs, they can be quite bossy and strong-willed at times. However, they are easily trained and require daily training to be well mannered. They are high energy dogs who need room to run and/or regular mental stimulation. Often times, their extra energy can be channeled into short training sessions while they're a young pup, then by slowly extending the length of the training sessions as they get older. Without channeling their energy into something positive, they can have behavioral issues and can become destructive. Aussies have a tendency to become very attached to their people, but are typically friendly with strangers when well socialized.
Please do some research on the breed before choosing to bring one home to ensure that the breed is a good fit for your lifestyle. Some great resources have been linked at the bottom of the page.
We breed Aussies as close to the AKC breed standard as possible. We use the breed standard as our guide in selecting future generations. This means that all of our Aussies are standard sized, 18"-23" in height and weigh 45-65 pounds. We do not breed toy or mini Australian Shepherds. According to the AKC and ASCA, toy and mini Aussies are not a recognized breed, therefore are not registrable, and often are crossed with smaller breeds to produce the smaller dogs. Please do some research on breeders before choosing your puppy.
We breed for temperament, conformation, and working ability. We strive to produce a well rounded pup who is just as willing to work as they are to lay next to you and relax. All of our puppies are registrable with the AKC and ASCA and will come with their registration paperwork.
All of our adult Aussies have had full genetic panels completed with either PawPrint Genetics or Embark Vet. They also have their DNA profiled and on record with the AKC and ASCA.
We are proud members of the American Kennel Club (AKC), Australian Shepherd Club of America (ASCA), United States Australian Shepherd Association (USASA), and the Working Australian Shepherd Club of Oklahoma (WASCO).
For their safety, we don't ship our puppies. Prospective and new owners are welcome to come to the farm to pick out or pick up their new family member.
